Safety Manager - Goldsboro, MD

Job Description:

The Ryan Company, Inc is seeking a full time Safety Manager to join our team in Goldsboro, MD. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and occupational health component of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments to achieve safety effectiveness for the Ryan Company. The Site Safety Manager will assist Project Managers, Construction Managers, and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practices and conditions at a site level.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with new hire general safety orientation
  Coordinate, conduct, and document safety meetings and on-site safety audits
• Assist management in preparing safety policies and procedures; provide support in implementing these policies and procedures
  Ensure that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed
• Serve as a technical expert on the Job Hazard Analysis process and ensure they are completed and reviewed
• Work with the Safety Department and ensures that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met
• Monitor activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment
• Provide safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees. Provide feedback to encourage learning
• Promote proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions
• Integrate safety into project plans by establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety policies and procedures
• Monitor safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement
• Work with VP’s, Operations Managers, Project Managers, Construction Managers and Field Safety & Health Coordinators to develop, implement and monitor annual comprehensive Safety Plans
• Assist and document company incident investigations to include, sharing of lessons learned, communicating next steps, and tracking associated corrective actions
• Monitor safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills
• Bachelor’s Degree Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management preferred, or related field equivalent experience will be considered
• Must have at least one of the following credentials: CSP,SMS,ASP,GSP,TSP,OHST,CHST,STS,STSC,CIT
• 3 – 5 years of field construction safety experience

Work Environment:

• Must be able to remain standing approximately 75% of the time
• Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching
• The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
• Climb ladders and stairs
• Occasionally lifting 40 pounds
